In other words, the reduction of this hormone, leptin,  increases the feeling of hunger.  Cognitive behavior is also affected because of calorie deprivation, and it makes the person food-obsessed. A study conducted during World War II amongst people partially starved for half a year found that they were consumed by talks and thoughts of food for most of their time during the war. Hence, Tracy Mann recommended staving off a restrictive diet.

The moral of the story is that you should avoid obsessing over calories. Weight loss is so much more than just calorie reduction. To lose weight you do not need to count calories and go hungry. A meal plan which is not only scientific but also not restrictive will help you to be on track. With your mind off your cravings, you can focus better on your health goals.
